Paywast Established The First Health Information Center in Afghanistan

Paywast, Afghanistan’s first and largest provider of social media signed a contract with the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan on December 1st, 2013. Based on this contract, Paywast established a Health Information Center (HIC). This project is financially supported by GAVI and is supervised by WHO. Paywast operates and leads the HIC in Jamhuriat Hospital in Kabul City. On September 3rd, 2014 HIC was inaugurated jointly by Ministry of Public Health and Paywast.

Paywast as the operating and leading agency of HIC has used the newest technology to create a program called mDoctor. This technology enables providing accurate reports, gathering and collecting data, entering basic patients’ information into the system as well as doing survey.

The health consultants are male and female and work Saturday through Thursday from 8 am to 4pm to give medical advises and health information to the callers. Customers from all over Afghanistan call the center toll free number 166 to get medical advices.

HIC was created for two main reasons.

  1. To give health counseling services to the patients to improve their health and to create health awareness in three main areas such as reproductive health, vaccinations and nutrition.
  2. To get complains and suggestions in health related areas from people so the Ministry of Health could take the fast and right measurements to resolve the problems and improve the quality of health services.

Opening of this center is very important and essential for people living in remote areas where they do not have access to health facilities.
