Kabul, January 23-26, 2012- Kabul Innovation Lab was launched in Kabul Serena Hotel in the week of January 23-26, 2012 which brought together premier ICT experts from a broad spectrum of fields to discuss social and economic issues and search for innovative ICT solutions for tomorrow’s challenges. The Lab was one of the most important three day events focused on technology and innovation. In what the Forbes called it ‘Silicon Afghanistan’, participants were not concerned about human rights violation or the challenges facing Afghanistan today; they discussed the future of Afghanistan through technology. The first day of the forum was open for all. However, the second day was limited to a pre-selected group of NGOs, technology and service firms engaged in mobile-based solutions and value added services.
Paywast was one of the few institutions in Afghanistan which was invited to make a presentation on Day Two of the Kabul Innovation Lab. Jes Kaliebe Petersen, Paywast representative made the concluding and most important presentation of the day listing a number of Mobile based applications in health, education, M-money, M-governance and M-commerce that Paywast was developing. Kabul Innovation Lab was jointly hosted by Internews, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) and the International Synergy Group.
