Mobile Government (mGov)

UStronics was the prime contractor for the World Bank-funded Mobile Government (mGov) project. The mGov platform enables more than 30 ministries and government agencies to build and provide mobile applications that can deliver public services to citizens through SMS, voice, USSD, web, and mobile apps. The project consisted of the installation of hardware and software in the Governmental Data Center and full integration of the mobile platform with Mobile Operator Networks for SMS, billing, IVR, and USSD. The integration of the mGov platform with different ministries and government agencies made public data accessible to the population via mobile phones. Integration of the platform with third party vendors and clients was also conducted.

Additional responsibilities in the project included preparation of content management for the platform, complete with end-to-end management tools for the public user interface, administrator user interface, and the department user interface.

Implementation of the 30 applications was completed within the first two years of the contract. A few of these examples are the:

  • School Admission Application
  • Disease Surveillance and Outbreak Report Application
  • Weather Alert Application
  • Verification of High School/University Diploma Application
  • Child Labor Tip Line Application
  • Unemployment Youth Application
  • Hajj Program Application
  • Refugee Help Line Application
  • Court Notification and Alert Application

The platform was also built in a way that enabled third party developers to develop additional applications for the Mobile Government platform using API.
