Paywast – Frequently Asked Questions

Q?

How can I connect to Paywast and benefit from its services?

A.
If you have a cell phone and subscribe to any of these four companies (AWCC, MTN, Etesalat and Afghan Telecom) in Afghanistan, you can be a user and subscriber of Paywast too.  It is that simple. All you need is: go to your mobile messaging screen and type 1, Paywast, and send it to 729 short code. You are now a Paywast subscriber.  Now, you can create a group by typing 1, your group name, and send it to 729.  There must be a space between 1 and Paywast.  There should be no comma, semi colon or any other punctuation.
Q?

What is the difference between Payam and Paywast?

A.
The difference between Payam and Paywast groups are only in numbers.  Paywast has been designed for social networking between individuals, families and peers to connect with each other through formation of groups.  However, Paywast groups are small and do not allow more than 50 members in one group.  Therefore, if your group members are more than 50 individuals you ought to be thinking about subscribing to a Payam group. In other words, Paywast has been designed for small groups while Payam is recommended for large social networking groups. Nevertheless, you do not have to worry about formation of a larger group if you do not wish to do so. You can form another group as you are allowed to create up to a maximum of five groups. Formation of both types of groups is fairly similar.
Q?

What are the differentiating features of Payam vs. Payad then?

A.
Payam and Payad both have been designed for businesses and complex organizations to connect with their members.  The difference between the two is that Payam groups are managed by the subscriber organizations through Payam’s web-based online interface or through its mobile phones. Payam subscribers have an option to choose any of three group types of Payam services (Payam 1, 2 and 3) and communicate to its employees or customers. However, Payad service can be handled mutually by both Payad owner and Payad team together.
Q?

Who should use Payam and who should use Payad?

A.
Those small, medium and large size organizations that regularly communicate with their employees, members and customers are recommended to subscribe to Payam. In the meantime, companies making regular advertisements to large groups of people are advised to use Payam and benefit from its unbeatable low prices.  On the other hand, organizations that occasionally need to send bulk messages and mass communications to a large group of people may use Payad to communicate with its intended group of population. For example, Ministries of Education and Higher Education may use Payad as they occasionally need to reach out large groups of student populations.  On the contrary, banks, MFIs, retail and wholesale companies, job placement organizations which need regular advertisements should preferably use Payam to benefit from Payam’s incredibly low price packages. Q?

Why should organizations use SMS?

A.
Any organization may use any channel of information delivery at its own choice.  Nevertheless, organizations prefer to send their messages through the most effective means of mass communications.  In fact, SMS is the most effective means of communication in today’s market.  Researches have shown that 95% of all SMS messages sent are read within 24 hours of being sent while 50% of emails are deleted before even being read by their recipients. SMS are much more powerful and effective than TV and Radio commercials.  In TV and Radio commercials, the number of commercials not being seen by their audiences is even greater than email attrition rates.  There are chances that at the time of a particular commercial, millions of families may have tuned into some other programs or their TV or Radio sets may have been turned off and thereby are not able to see that particular commercial.  On the contrary, only a limited percentage of SMS messages go unnoticed by their recipients.
